MAIN ISSUES DURING THE REPORTING PERIOD

The security situation throughout Somalia remained unpredictable during the reporting period. No major fighting was reported in any part of the country with the exception of some sporadic clashes between the TFG forces and Al Shabaab in the capital Mogadishu.

Throughout Somalia, approximately 24,000 people were displaced due to the conflict and also due to the consequences of the drought in June. Approximately 4,300 were reported to have fled Mogadishu and 4,100 were reported to have moved to areas within the city.
