At 6:00 p.m. the center Tropical Storm Paula was located near latitude 16.4 North, Longitude 84.3 West. The Storm is moving towards the Northwest at 9 miles per hour; Maximum sustained winds are near 65 miles per hour with higher gusts. There is a 90% chance that Tropical Storm Paula will become a Hurricane by 12:00 midday tomorrow October 12, 2010.

Due to this situation the public is being advised of further deteriorating weather conditions as Paula moves nearer to Belize.

NEMO advises the public not to travel to the Cayes tomorrow. For those people who plan to leave the Islands, please do so by 10:00 a.m. tomorrow October 12, 2010.

Persons along the Coast and areas that are likely to flood are advised to move as early as possible. Mariners are being advised to seek safe harbour as seas conditions are likely to be become rough.

People in the following areas please pay particular attention to this and other NEMO advisories:

- San Pedro & Caye Caulker - In the event of evacuation the Marine Terminal Area on North Front Street is the designated area to board the buses. Motorists are therefore advised to stay away from this area.

- Placencia & Siene Bight - will be advised tomorrow morning if you need to move to shelters.

- Punta Negra - be advised that tomorrow morning the Coast Guard will evacuate you.

Bus owners are being asked to be on alert to support NEMO transportation needs.

We have asked the Ministry of Education to suspend classes' tomorrow country wide. School staff are informed to report to school to prepare their buildings for shelter.

The San Pedro Committee and the Belize City Emergency Committee are on full alert and making preparations for evacuation by boat and by bus tomorrow.

Public Officers are advised to be on standby for deployment to there respective shelter and to carry out their emergency duties.

The NEMO National Executive Committee meeting is scheduled for 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. The first met report in the morning will trigger the possible evacuation of San Pedro and Caye Caulker.

Phase 1 and a Tropical Storm Watch are still in effect for Belize. NEMO is in full activation and advises that this system is expected to be in our area for the rest of the week. Public is advised to continue listen to their local radio and television stations for further advisories from the NEMO and the National Met Service.
